Phil West fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lewis Grantham having to interfere. When Steven Cotton came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Stevenage fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steven Cotton couldn't finish the play. Steven Cotton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lewis Grantham having to interfere. When Alfie Pearson came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the New Team fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfie Pearson couldn't finish the play. After 41 played minutes Stevenage got a freekick which was hit by Jeremy Weston.

The wind increased when Steven Cotton made the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Steven Cotton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The supporters of New Team booed when Stevenage was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeremy Weston didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Brendon Coleman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Stevenage's Samuel Lynch got a free kick in the 62nd minute. In the 69thth minute of the game Steven Cotton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but New Team's Lewis Grantham was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 72nd minute, Denny Acton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Phil West got free with Lewis Grantham in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The long shot by Samuel Lynch in the 77th minute really tested Lewis Grantham's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 85th minute, Steven Cotton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The New Team fans' excitement grew in the 88th match minute when New Team's Brendon Coleman looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. George Kershaw came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by New Team's Brendon Coleman. But to his dismay, Brendon Coleman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. The audience was convinced that Brendon Coleman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but George Kershaw was relentless in the 98th minute of the game.
