Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jonathon Cole took the kick off in the first half of the match. After 4 minutes, Leo Welch mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Long Hanborough and the Brighouse United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Brighouse United booed when Long Hanborough was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leo Welch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sol Bateman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Damon Chipperfield's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. Simeon Blueman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Denny Bennet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Seb Langford fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Brighouse United's protests and gave Seb Langford a yellow card for diving instead. In the 21st minute, Seb Langford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute, Jonathon Cole ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sol Bateman was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. A collision led to Brighouse United getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Warren Wiley hit a great ball. Sol Bateman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damon Chipperfield, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brighouse United's Sol Bateman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathon Cole in the 32nd minute of play. If Damon Chipperfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute, Jonathon Cole left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Long Hanborough fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Sol Bateman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathon Cole in the 40th minute of play. In the 42nd minute Victor Little shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sol Bateman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathon Cole fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sol Bateman having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Brighouse United's Dale Kennedy got a free kick in the 46th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ian Barnfield to strike the kick off in the second half. Brighouse United's Sol Bateman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Brighouse United from getting a goal against them. 52 minutes in the game, Jonathon Cole fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Sol Bateman having to interfere. Sol Bateman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathon Cole, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Jonathon Cole managed to get in a good position for a shot. Long Hanborough's supporters rose to their feet, but Jonathon Cole was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sol Bateman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 85 minutes into the match, Brighouse United's goalkeeper Sol Bateman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Damon Chipperfield. Long Hanborough's Damon Chipperfield got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 88th minute Jonathon Cole shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sol Bateman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathon Cole sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Long Hanborough's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
