The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Honiton getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Charles Goodwick hit a great ball. After 14 minutes, Gez Hall mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Honiton and the Cheadle FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Keanu Wing during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 21st match minute, Honiton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathon Mulligan to maneuver through the defense. Gordon Challis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Calvin Lister in the 29th minute of play. Zak Allott kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Gordon Challis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rory Barone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Barrie Cullen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lloyd Hewitt in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, Ritchie Waite cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Barrie Cullen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 45th minute, Ritchie Waite left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Honiton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. A collision led to Honiton getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Hugh Clarke hit a great ball. The Cheadle FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Honiton were winning 0-2.

Ashley Hickson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 54 minutes of play, Cheadle FC's Ashley Hickson made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gordon Challis was left in no man's land by his defense there! 59 minutes into the match, Honiton's goal looked a bit too open when Calvin Lister came free, but Gordon Challis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lloyd Hewitt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barrie Cullen having to interfere. If Lloyd Hewitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Ritchie Waite managed to get in a good position for a shot. Honiton's supporters rose to their feet, but Ritchie Waite was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Barrie Cullen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Lloyd Hewitt came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Honiton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lloyd Hewitt couldn't finish the play. In the 72nd match minute, Cheadle FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerry Byrne to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cheadle FC's goalkeeper Barrie Cullen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ashley Hickson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Gordon Challis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Honiton's Ritchie Waite got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 91 minutes into the match, Honiton's goal looked a bit too open when Calvin Lister came free, but Gordon Challis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Honiton's Gordon Challis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calvin Lister in the 93rd minute of play. Calvin Lister struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Gordon Challis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cheadle FC. Calvin Lister blasted a shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gordon Challis having to make a save. Honiton's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
