Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Mike Wardill made the kick off which started today's match. 6 minutes into the game, Richard Deighton lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Graham Morrison. A collision led to Northallerton getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Mike Wardill hit a great ball. 19 minutes into the game, Damian Grigg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Sammy Flack was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Northallerton's Denny Beswetherick got a free kick in the 25th minute. Denny Beswetherick's late challenge caught a Whitton City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 38 minutes, Mike Wardill made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Whitton City's Graham Morrison tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Denny Beswetherick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Graham Morrison tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The wind increased when CJ Butterfield made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mike Wardill in the 56th minute of play forced Whitton City's goalkeeper Graham Morrison to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Richard Deighton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Graham Morrison stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mike Wardill's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. After having played for 62 minutes, Joel Holstead managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Northallerton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Holstead was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mike Wardill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alex Best hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Graham Morrison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mike Wardill in the 68th minute of the match. Sammy Flack showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from CJ Butterfield in the 70th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 76 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Richard Deighton sped through Whitton City's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Graham Morrison. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Northallerton. CJ Butterfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee ended the match the Northallerton players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
