Curtis Hassell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garry Child, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Oscar Preece sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Liverpool players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ulverston FC were winning 0-1.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rich Hargreaves in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Simon Mabbutt prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lloyd Bayford blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Curtis Hassell having to make a save. Curtis Hassell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kristian Fleming in the 62nd minute of play. When the match clock showed 63 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Andy Coulthard sped through Ulverston FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Simon Mabbutt. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lloyd Bayford got free with Curtis Hassell in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Simon Mabbutt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andy Coulthard in the 69th minute of the match. Simon Mabbutt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andy Coulthard's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Garry Child kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Curtis Hassell. That made the score 1-2 in the 75 minute of play. A collision led to Ulverston FC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Clive Teague hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Clive Griggs in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Simon Mabbutt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rich Hargreaves went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Simon Mabbutt came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Liverpool's Clive Griggs. But to his dismay, Clive Griggs quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2.
