After having played for 7 minutes, Joseph Church managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liverpool's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joseph Church was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Liverpool's Clive Griggs got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Andy Coulthard recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Liverpool fans' excitement grew in the 11th match minute when Liverpool's Rich Hargreaves looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 16th minute, Sawbridgeworth's Sebastien Rotherfield ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Curtis Hassell. Curtis Hassell yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Gareth East shot the penalty kick right outside the post. In the 23rd minute, Oscar Preece left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Liverpool fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. In the 26thth minute of the game Rich Hargreaves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sawbridgeworth's Felix Bourne was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Liverpool's goalkeeper Curtis Hassell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nicholas Falkingham. Sebastien Rotherfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rich Hargreaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Liverpool's Andy Coulthard in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sawbridgeworth's goalie prevented a goal. 35 minutes into the game, Nicholas Falkingham was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sawbridgeworth's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Liverpool the free kick. The supporters of Liverpool booed when Sawbridgeworth was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicholas Falkingham didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 39 minutes, Clive Griggs made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. Sawbridgeworth's Felix Bourne tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Liverpool's Joseph Church couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Sawbridgeworth. After 44 minutes of play, Liverpool's Rich Hargreaves made it 1-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Felix Bourne was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-5 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andy Coulthard to make the kick off. Jools Tyson's late challenge caught a Liverpool's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jools Tyson helped the player get up and apologised. After 52 played minutes Sawbridgeworth got a freekick which was hit by Jools Tyson. Rich Hargreaves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Felix Bourne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Clive Griggs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Liverpool's Andy Coulthard in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sawbridgeworth's goalie prevented a goal. If Micheal Dawes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Sawbridgeworth defense, Clive Griggs kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Felix Bourne. The Sawbridgeworth fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Felix Bourne should have stopped the shot. Rich Hargreavess short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got Felix Bourne to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Rich Hargreaves who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 71stth minute tested the skills of Felix Bourne when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Curtis Hassell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastien Rotherfield in the 76th minute of the match. If Andy Coulthard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clive Griggs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 85 minutes into the match, Liverpool's Clive Griggs sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Felix Bourne narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 87 minutes into the match, Sawbridgeworth's goal looked a bit too open when Clive Griggs came free, but Felix Bourne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Curtis Hassell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jools Tyson, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Felix Bourne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andy Coulthard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rich Hargreaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felix Bourne having to interfere. 93 minutes into the match, Sawbridgeworth's goal looked a bit too open when Andy Coulthard came free, but Felix Bourne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Curtis Hassell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olly Barber in the 95th minute of play. Liverpool's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
