With a little luck, Tring's Mattias Hayes got control of the ball when Vernon Barltrop tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 13th minute, Neil Banks ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Simon Odell was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Zane Tomkin took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mattias Hayes. Tring's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After having played for 18 minutes, Neil Banks managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tring's supporters crossed their fingers, but Neil Banks was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Tring fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Tring's Neil Banks looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 24th match minute, Tring was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lee Hassell to maneuver through the defense. Wem AFC's Simon Odell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Neil Banks in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute Victor Horn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simon Odell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Neil Banks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Tring's Neil Banks in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wem AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Neil Banks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 38th minute Neil Banks shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simon Odell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Wem AFC defense, Devon Goodfellow kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Simon Odell. The Wem AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simon Odell should have stopped the shot. Garth Jones sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Wem AFC's zone, Victor Horn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simon Odell came out of the goal and Victor Horn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Neil Banks to strike the kick off in the second half. Neil Banks recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrick Clarkson in the 55th minute of play forced Tring's goalkeeper Mattias Hayes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Neil Banks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fraser Jenas was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 64 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 64th minute of the game. One of Tring:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Wem AFC:s goal. In the 67th minute there was a penalty for Wem AFC. Zane Tomkin stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Mattias Hayes. 1-3. Mattias Hayes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vernon Barltrop in the 71st minute of the match. If Victor Horn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 73rd minute, Junior Albright hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Victor Horn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tring's Julian Golding has a good shot, but didn't show it this time. The shot went over the crossbar in the 85th minute. In the 86th minute, Junior Albright hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 90 minutes, Victor Horn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tring's supporters crossed their fingers, but Victor Horn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Garth Jones fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simon Odell having to interfere. Simon Odell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victor Horn, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. When the match was over Tring could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Wem AFC throughout the match.
