Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Kyle Emmerson charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kyle Emmerson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 4 played minutes Gedling City got a freekick which was hit by Kyle Emmerson. If Austen Woodhead had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Johnny Wootton came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Gedling City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Johnny Wootton couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Austen Woodhead managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gedling City's supporters rose to their feet, but Austen Woodhead was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reg Gerrard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Gary Woodford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Johnny Wootton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gedling City's supporters rose to their feet, but Johnny Wootton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reg Gerrard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gary Woodford struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. James Kirk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stevenage FC. In the 37thth minute of the game Johnny Wootton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stevenage FC's Reg Gerrard was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Derek Poynton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Reg Gerrard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Johnny Wootton was the one to do the kick off. Gary Woodford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. James Kirk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gary Woodford recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Rory Monkhouse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Austen Woodhead's late challenge caught a Stevenage FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Austen Woodhead helped the player get up and apologised.
