The Walthamstow FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wes Chapman should have stopped the shot. Bart Darko could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Ivan Longstaff made a huge save. Allan Stevens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 12 minutes into the game, Barney Forrest was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Minehead United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Walthamstow FC the free kick. In the 12th minute, Barney Forrest hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bart Darko was extremely unlucky when he, in the 14th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Ivan Longstaff showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodd Ashton in the 15th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, Bart Darko notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Minehead United's Ivan Longstaff. Ivan Longstaff was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Scott Steele kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. In the 24th minute, Ricky Nelson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 27th minute, Pedro Crossley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ivan Longstaff was a little too slow when Danny Gardiner got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 30th minute. The score was now 2-1. In the 34th minute, Donny Wardman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Minehead United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Danny Gardiner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Ivan Longstaff tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricky Nelson charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ricky Nelson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 42nd match minute, Walthamstow FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricky Nelson to maneuver through the defense. Walthamstow FC's Wes Chapman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allan Stevens in the 43rd minute of play. Ivan Longstaff made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ricky Nelson in the 44th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Rodd Ashton made the kick off in the second half. Ivan Longstaff showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bart Darko, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Ivan Longstaff made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodd Ashton in the 58th minute of play. Johnnie Bowland charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Johnnie Bowland the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 60th match minute, Minehead United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johnnie Bowland to maneuver through the defense. In the 62nd minute, Rodd Ashton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 66th minute Danny Gardiner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Longstaff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the game, Pedro Crossley cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Wes Chapman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Wes Chapman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Allan Stevens in the 70th minute of the match. Wes Chapman made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Pedro Crossley sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Walthamstow FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Jon Washington hit a great ball. After 78 played minutes Minehead United got a freekick which was hit by Jude McDermot. After 79 played minutes Minehead United got a freekick which was hit by Robert Sutcliffe. 83 minutes into the match, Bart Darko had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivan Longstaff. Minehead United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bart Darko was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-4. The referee felt a red card was in order, 86 minutes into the game, when Jack Burns put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 85th minute of the game. One of Walthamstow FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Minehead United:s goal. The goalkeeper, Wes Chapman, was totally fooled by Minehead United's Scott Steele, who 88 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 92 minutes into the match, Minehead United's goal looked a bit too open when Bart Darko came free, but Ivan Longstaff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pedro Crossley scored 4-6 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wes Chapman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Minehead United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Minehead United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
