Casey Metcalf recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Howard Knowles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Peter Brindley made a kick off. If Howard Knowles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. Alfie Appleton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Howard Knowles in the 84th minute. Howard Knowles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 91stth minute tested the skills of Alfie Appleton when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 97th minute, Cliff MacDonald hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
