Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Gez Davis took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 5th minute, Greg Duggan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Den Kaye was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Cliff Venables made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gez Davis in the 10th minute of play. Lewis Bromley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Den Kaye having to interfere. If Ty Driver had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 17 played minutes Helsby got a freekick which was hit by Don York. In the 20th minute Wanstead Wanderers were awarded a corner. Lloyd Starr went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Wanstead Wanderers's Lloyd Starr to fire away a dangerous shot which Den Kaye despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ty Driver recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 26 minutes, Lewis Bromley made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Helsby's Den Kaye tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ty Driver in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Den Kaye prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lewis Bromley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Den Kaye tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ty Driver recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44th minute, Ty Driver got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lewis Bromley made a kick off. Den Kaye made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Ty Driver sent off a good shot on target. Ty Driver struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Den Kaye didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wanstead Wanderers. If Lewis Bromley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Lewis Bromley managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wanstead Wanderers's supporters rose to their feet, but Lewis Bromley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Den Kaye breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 64th minute by Ty Driver got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Den Kaye stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lewis Bromley's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Ty Driver sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 69 minutes into the match, Wanstead Wanderers's Lewis Bromley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Den Kaye narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Helsby's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when Lewis Bromley scored to the left of an out of position Den Kaye, making the score, 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruce Paine in the 78th minute of play forced Wanstead Wanderers's goalkeeper Cliff Venables to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ty Driver sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Vernon Hartshorn hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. If Gez Davis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the match, Wanstead Wanderers's goal looked a bit too open when Gez Davis came free, but Cliff Venables reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute Lewis Bromley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Den Kaye saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Helsby getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Scott Wootton hit a great ball. Helsby's Den Kaye played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lewis Bromley in the 94th minute of play. Wanstead Wanderers's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Lloyd Starr in the 96th minute. The corner ended in Lloyd Starr almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Helsby's Den Kaye did a great save.
