Damion Easton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Glenn Pilkington showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stephen Holbrook in the 11th minute of the match. Whiteley's Vince Armstrong got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Kelvin Cutts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Kelvin Cutts's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Damion Easton was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. The supporters of Whiteley booed when FC Kennington was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronan Elam didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vince Armstrong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damion Easton having to interfere. In the 27thth minute of the game Kelvin Cutts who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Kennington's Damion Easton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, FC Kennington's Felix Gamble got a free kick in the 28th minute. Damion Easton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vince Armstrong's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Kelvin Cutts struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Damion Easton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Whiteley. Kelvin Cutts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Damion Easton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stephen Holbrook made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Whiteley's Marek Lightfoot got a free kick in the 51st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Len Bambrook managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Kennington's supporters rose to their feet, but Len Bambrook was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Glenn Pilkington breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 56th match minute, Whiteley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vince Armstrong to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Whiteley's Marek Lightfoot got a free kick in the 59th minute. Damion Easton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kelvin Cutts, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. A collision led to Whiteley getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Kelvin Cutts hit a great ball. Ronan Elam hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the match, Whiteley's Calvin Gettins broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Whiteley's Glenn Pilkington played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Len Bambrook in the 75th minute of play. Deon Le Tissier kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Kelvin Cutts recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Damion Easton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kelvin Cutts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vince Armstrong struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Damion Easton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Whiteley. Vince Armstrong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
