Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Tim Tolley started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. With a little luck, Greenwood fc's Stuart Hudson got control of the ball when Albert Dyson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Stuart Hudson was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tim Tolley showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 6 minute of play. 10 minutes into the match, Ash's goal looked a bit too open when Gwyn Halford came free, but Greg Brooks reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Greenwood fc's goalkeeper Stuart Hudson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Albert Dyson. Tim Tolley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ash's Greg Brooks played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calvin Purvis in the 21st minute of play. Tim Tolley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Stuart Hudson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Calvin Purvis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Ash's Leo Glanvill got a free kick in the 36th minute. After 37 played minutes, Greenwood fc's Wally Dickner shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Greg Brooks came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Greenwood fc reached it. When Leo Glanvill fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ash's protests and gave Leo Glanvill a yellow card for diving instead. Leo Glanvill kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Gwyn Halford hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Gwyn Halford was in a good position and ended up with the ball after Greenwood fc's free kick, but he didn't get a good hit on the ball and blazed it high and to the right of the goal. In the 44th match minute, Ash was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leo Glanvill to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Calvin Purvis in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Greg Brooks saved Ash from getting behind. Gwyn Halford fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Greg Brooks having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gwyn Halford was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Greenwood fc's goal looked a bit too open when Albert Dyson came free, but Stuart Hudson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sid Washington's late challenge caught a Greenwood fc's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sid Washington helped the player get up and apologised. After 58 played minutes Ash got a freekick which was hit by Sid Washington. In the 61st minute, Greenwood fc's Gwyn Halford dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Greenwood fc's Noel Benbow got a free kick in the 63rd minute. When Tim Tolley came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Ash fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tim Tolley couldn't finish the play. Greg Brooks was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Noel Benbow. Greg Brooks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gwyn Halford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leo Glanvill got his second yellow card in the match during the 79th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Leo Glanvill kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Calvin Purvis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Greg Brooks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 85 minutes into the game, Harvey Izzard was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ash's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Greenwood fc the free kick. The supporters of Greenwood fc booed when Ash was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harvey Izzard didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 88th minute, Calvin Purvis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Greg Brooks was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. If Calvin Purvis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stuart Hudson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albert Dyson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Ash supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Greenwood fc's performance. The match ended with a win for Greenwood fc.
