Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The All Stars fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gary Oates should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Nathanial Wadham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Beckenham United's supporters rose to their feet, but Nathanial Wadham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gary Oates breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nathanial Wadham to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rupert Needham got free with Gary Oates in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
