A collision led to Legia Warsaw getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Julian Morning hit a great ball. Sam Burton scored 1-2 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Junior Borrowdale, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Liam Bryden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute, Sam Burton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jeremy Tully was a little too slow when Luke Blakeley got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 30th minute. The score was now 2-2. newman united's Jeremy Tully played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martyn Baxter in the 41st minute of play. 44 minutes into the match, newman united's Liam Bryden sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Junior Borrowdale narrowly saved just below the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Martyn Baxter to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Johnathan Cutts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremy Tully saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, newman united's goal looked a bit too open when Luke Blakeley came free, but Jeremy Tully reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61st minute Liam Bryden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Junior Borrowdale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeremy Tully came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Legia Warsaw's Johnathan Cutts. But to his dismay, Johnathan Cutts quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-3. Sam Burton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 71 minutes into the match, newman united's goal looked a bit too open when Martyn Baxter came free, but Jeremy Tully reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Junior Borrowdale made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sam Burton in the 74th minute. Jeremy Tully showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luke Blakeley in the 75th minute of the match. Johnathan Cutts recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Junior Borrowdale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sam Burton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of newman united booed when Legia Warsaw was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oliver Budge didn't get a good kick on the ball. Legia Warsaw's Luke Blakeley suffered a sprained foot after 82 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Liam Bryden's late challenge caught a Legia Warsaw's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Liam Bryden helped the player get up and apologised. Liam Bryden kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Johnathan Cutts got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Liam Bryden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Junior Borrowdale having to interfere. When Liam Bryden came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the newman united fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Liam Bryden couldn't finish the play. Legia Warsaw were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of newman united for a fine match.
