Eddie Wiseman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Keanu Haley, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. If Brendon Evans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Ashford Fc's Stu Hough sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wayne Bale narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Brendon Evans recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bryan Warburton might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wayne Bale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bryan Warburton ran back to his position shaking his head. Wayne Bale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stu Hough in the 41st minute of play. Wayne Bale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Craig Knight in the 42nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stu Hough in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wayne Bale saved Funky Town from getting behind. In the 46th play minute Mick Lomas came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Wayne Bale. 3-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stu Hough stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Carlton Byrom got his second yellow card in the match during the 52nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Funky Town's Carlton Byrom got a free kick in the 53rd minute. If Bryan Warburton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wayne Bale stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stu Hough's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. Bryan Warburton took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wayne Bale. Wayne Bale dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. The audience was convinced that Stu Hough's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wayne Bale was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. Funky Town's Wayne Bale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bryan Warburton in the 71st minute of play. Wayne Bale stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Steven Bayliff's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Bryan Warburton took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wayne Bale. Wayne Bale dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Keanu Haley got free with Eddie Wiseman in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 85th match minute, Ashford Fc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Steven Bayliff to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryan Warburton in the 87th minute of play forced Funky Town's goalkeeper Wayne Bale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th minute, Mick Lomas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wayne Bale was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. In the 92nd minute, Bryan Warburton made a precise shot to the right of Wayne Bale. Funky Town's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0. The audience was convinced that Stu Hough's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wayne Bale was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. Brendon Evans might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wayne Bale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brendon Evans ran back to his position shaking his head. Ashford Fc's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
