An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Bowland in the 12th minute of play forced Ashford Fc's goalkeeper Eddie Wiseman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eddie Wiseman came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Flash of the Blade's Casey Gilchrist. But to his dismay, Casey Gilchrist quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 19th minute, Flash of the Blade's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Mick Lomas fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tosh Harris in the 22nd minute of play forced Ashford Fc's goalkeeper Eddie Wiseman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Bryan Warburton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ashford Fc's supporters rose to their feet, but Bryan Warburton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerry Jones breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 40th minute, Mick Lomas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gerry Jones was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Flash of the Blade's Daryl Symons pulled a muscle in his back after 43 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 43 minutes, Bryan Warburton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ashford Fc and the Flash of the Blade players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Flash of the Blade's Damion Towler was substituted for Oscar Bowland. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Damion Towler made a kick off. Gerry Jones showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mick Lomas in the 60th minute of the match. Damion Towler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Eddie Wiseman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 67th match minute, Ashford Fc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damien Cheeseman to maneuver through the defense. 69 minutes into the match, Casey Gilchrist notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Ashford Fc's Eddie Wiseman. Eddie Wiseman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A hard shot 73 in the game by Damion Towler from a close distance when the talented Eddie Wiseman managed to make a qualified save. Ashford Fc's players were relieved. In the 73rd minute, Stu Hough hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Pete Acton in the 74th minute really tested Eddie Wiseman's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 75th minute, Damion Towler left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Flash of the Blade fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. 78 minutes into the match, Ashford Fc's goalkeeper Eddie Wiseman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Damion Towler. In the 86th minute, Tosh Harris reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Eddie Wiseman. The goal made the score 1-4. The supporters of Ashford Fc booed when Flash of the Blade was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pete Acton didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Flash of the Blade's zone, Mick Lomas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerry Jones came out of the goal and Mick Lomas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
