The supporters of Flash of the Blade booed when Oakham United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Moorhouse didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dom Lowe hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Noel Tandy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oscar Bowland in the 10th minute of the match. Donny Garnett received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gerry Jones came out and tried to block the shot, but Donny Garnett slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 16th minute. Gerry Jones made an important save on a dangerous shot by Frank Moorhouse in the 19th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Casey Gilchrist in the 24th minute of play forced Oakham United's goalkeeper Noel Tandy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Oscar Bowland in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Noel Tandy saved Oakham United from getting behind. Noel Tandy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Bowland in the 26th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oscar Bowland in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Noel Tandy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dom Lowe charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dom Lowe the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dom Lowe kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Gerry Jones made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Frank Moorhouse sent off a good shot on target. Oscar Bowland struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Noel Tandy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Flash of the Blade. With a little luck, Flash of the Blade's Gerry Jones got control of the ball when Josh Ploughman tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 42nd match minute, Flash of the Blade was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oscar Bowland to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Flash of the Blade made a substitution. Damion Towler replaced Oscar Bowland. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Donny Garnett made a kick off. Gerry Jones showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Moorhouse, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Damion Towler who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Noel Tandy when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 58thth minute of the game Damion Towler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oakham United's Noel Tandy was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Noel Tandy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damion Towler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 93 minutes into the match, Donny Garnett notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Flash of the Blade's Gerry Jones. Gerry Jones was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 96 played minutes Oakham United got a freekick which was hit by Brynn Bennett.
