Spectators: 6726 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Pete Grigg kicked off to start the match. Vince Hayes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Clive Eastwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Phil Mortlock could shoot a difficult shot in the 8th minute, which Clive Eastwood however easily saved by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Linn City's zone, Vince Hayes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clive Eastwood came out of the goal and Vince Hayes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Vince Hayes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Finglesham United's supporters rose to their feet, but Vince Hayes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clive Eastwood breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vince Hayes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Clive Eastwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Linn City's Clive Eastwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vince Hayes in the 18th minute of play. Phil Mortlock recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Linn City's goalkeeper Clive Eastwood, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Linn City's Clive Eastwood got control of the ball when Phil Mortlock tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 26th minute Jeff West shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kurt Gough saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute, Charlie Whieldon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Finglesham United's zone, Jeff West stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kurt Gough came out of the goal and Jeff West tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pete Grigg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Gough having to interfere. Phil Mortlock's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Clive Eastwood firmly grabbed it by the left post. Jeff West sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 54 minutes of play, Finglesham United's Vince Hayes made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Clive Eastwood was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Vince Hayes came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Finglesham United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vince Hayes couldn't finish the play. Clive Eastwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phil Mortlock, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clive Eastwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vince Hayes in the 63rd minute of play. Finglesham United's Phil Mortlock got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vince Hayes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Clive Eastwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phil Mortlock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clive Eastwood having to interfere. Vince Hayes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Clive Eastwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phil Mortlock in the 83rd minute of play forced Linn City's goalkeeper Clive Eastwood to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Finglesham United's Kurt Gough proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Finglesham United from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Finglesham United's Bart Gurney got a free kick in the 85th minute. Jeff West received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Kurt Gough tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vince Hayes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clive Eastwood having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Finglesham United had won after a very even match.
