Finglesham Park
Spectators: 6726 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Vince Hayes made the kick off which started today's match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Francis Darnbrooke in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kurt Gough prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Patrick Stevens was out of position in the 9 minute of play, and Vince Hayes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Vince Hayes really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. When Derek Avery fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Finglesham United's protests and gave Derek Avery a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th minute, one of Finglesham United:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Finglesham United. After 16 played minutes Finglesham United got a freekick which was hit by Bart Gurney. If Phil Mortlock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kurt Gough made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kristian Cobb in the 23rd minute of play. Patrick Stevens made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Phil Mortlock sent off a good shot on target. F95's Patrick Stevens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save F95 from getting a goal against them. 35 minutes into the game, Francis Darnbrooke was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. F95's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Finglesham United the free kick. Francis Darnbrooke kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After 38 played minutes Vince Hayes rounded F95's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-0. Kristian Cobb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Kurt Gough tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kristian Cobb made a kick off. When Kristian Cobb came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the F95 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kristian Cobb couldn't finish the play. F95's Patrick Stevens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vince Hayes in the 58th minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Finglesham United's goal looked a bit too open when Kristian Cobb came free, but Kurt Gough reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 64th minute, Finglesham United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Kristian Cobb fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kristian Cobb in the 71st minute of play forced Finglesham United's goalkeeper Kurt Gough to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th minute, Kristian Cobb reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Kurt Gough. The goal made the score 3-1. A collision led to Finglesham United getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Phil Mortlock hit a great ball. Phil Mortlock might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Patrick Stevens. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Phil Mortlock ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Phil Mortlock in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patrick Stevens saved F95 from getting behind. Phil Mortlock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 91st minute Phil Mortlock shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Stevens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Phil Mortlock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 96 minutes into the match, F95's goal looked a bit too open when Vince Hayes came free, but Patrick Stevens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Finglesham United had won after a very even match.
