In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Liverpros's goalkeeper Ken Hind, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ken Hind showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vince Hayes, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Charlie Whieldon hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Finglesham United's Kurt Gough proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Finglesham United from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Finglesham United getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Bart Gurney hit a great ball. In the 20th minute, Toby Cheeseman sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Finglesham United's Kurt Gough didn't even have to move. In the 23rd minute Vince Hayes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ken Hind saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vince Hayes scored 0-1 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ken Hind, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Vince Hayes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kurt Gough made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from George Sharpe in the 37th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Finglesham United's Gav Dexter got a free kick in the 37th minute. Toby Cheeseman shot a long shot in the 38th minute and a light blocked Kurt Gough hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 1-1. After some careless play in the Liverpros defense, Vince Hayes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ken Hind. The Liverpros fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ken Hind should have stopped the shot. Colin Bland hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when George Sharpe made the kick off in the second half. Vince Hayes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ken Hind having to interfere. After 57 minutes, Alf Furlong mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Liverpros and the Finglesham United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Phil Mortlock might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ken Hind. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Phil Mortlock ran back to his position shaking his head. Finglesham United's Vince Hayes got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ken Hind showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vince Hayes in the 64th minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, Liverpros's goal looked a bit too open when Vince Hayes came free, but Ken Hind reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Liverpros's goalkeeper Ken Hind, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. George Sharpe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Kurt Gough tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Liverpros's supporters rose to their feet, but George Sharpe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kurt Gough breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Finglesham United had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
