But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wesley Fuller couldn't finish the play. Marty Shackleton was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 7 minutes into the match. Frank Gold shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hired Goonz's goalkeeper Danny Barkley, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Danny Barkley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Callum Byrom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice moves Jerry Wills could shoot a difficult shot in the 17th minute, which Charles Auty however easily saved by the left post. With a little luck, West Rainton AFC's Charles Auty got control of the ball when Jerry Wills tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 24 minutes, Andre Harrison mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the West Rainton AFC and the Hired Goonz players grew even worse after the yellow card. Andre Harrison hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Hired Goonz's zone, Callum Byrom stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danny Barkley came out of the goal and Callum Byrom tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 32 minutes into the game, Jerry Wills cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Charles Auty was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Jerry Wills took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Charles Auty to make any attempt to save it. Wesley Fuller recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Callum Byrom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danny Barkley having to interfere. After 46 minutes, Pete Crouch mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the West Rainton AFC and the Hired Goonz players grew even worse after the yellow card. Pete Crouch kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Callum Byrom was the one to do the kick off. Jerry Wills blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Charles Auty having to make a save. Charles Auty made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerry Wills in the 55th minute of play. The supporters of West Rainton AFC booed when Hired Goonz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franz Savage didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ethan Dwyer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Danny Barkley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. West Rainton AFC's Charles Auty played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wesley Fuller in the 59th minute of play. The supporters of Hired Goonz booed when West Rainton AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ash Fry didn't get a good kick on the ball. West Rainton AFC's Charles Auty played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wesley Fuller in the 69th minute of play. If Wesley Fuller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hired Goonz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave West Rainton AFC the free kick. In the 75th match minute, Hired Goonz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franz Savage to maneuver through the defense. Callum Byrom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Callum Byrom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dave Smith received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Danny Barkley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Hired Goonz fans cheered their team off the field, for while West Rainton AFC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
