Spectators: 7503 (Terracing: 5628, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Deon Kennedy started the match with the kick off. Gareth Cheswick recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 8th minute, Deon Kennedy made a precise shot to the right of Pete Hehir. Ipswich's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 17 minutes into the match, West Rainton AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Gareth Cheswick came free, but Charles Auty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Gerry Knowles came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Ipswich fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerry Knowles couldn't finish the play. After having played for 25 minutes, Gerry Knowles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ipswich's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerry Knowles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Charles Auty showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gareth Cheswick, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Pete Hehir showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Deon Kennedy in the 29th minute of the match. Pete Hehir made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Callum Byrom in the 31st minute of play. A collision led to Ipswich getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Mark Burns hit a great ball. Callum Byrom scored 1-2 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pete Hehir, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Callum Byrom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pete Hehir having to interfere. After 37 minutes, Mark Burns mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ipswich and the West Rainton AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th minute Callum Byrom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pete Hehir saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ipswich's Pete Hehir played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Deon Kennedy in the 40th minute of play. Tosh Fearns hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Gareth Cheswick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles Auty having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gareth Cheswick to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Gerry Knowles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gerry Knowles struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Charles Auty didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ipswich. If Callum Byrom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th match minute, Ipswich was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chesney Kaye to maneuver through the defense. Crispin Coulthard hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, West Rainton AFC's Marty Shackleton tried to score from far away in the 60th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Callum Byrom's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pete Hehir firmly grabbed it by the left post. The supporters of West Rainton AFC booed when Ipswich was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mark Burns didn't get a good kick on the ball. Callum Byrom took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pete Hehir. Pete Hehir dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. In the 72ndth minute of the game Deon Kennedy who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ipswich's Pete Hehir was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 73rd minute, Ipswich's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Callum Byrom fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 84th play minutes Deon Kennedy shot 1-4, a short shot which went by Pete Hehir and just under the crossbar into goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerry Knowles in the 88th minute of play forced West Rainton AFC's goalkeeper Charles Auty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gerry Knowles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles Auty having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. West Rainton AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
