Norwich's Nigel Leslie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Purvis in the 3rd minute of play. Jonathon Bentham hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. When Pedro Purvis came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Mini Citizens fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Purvis couldn't finish the play. Laurence McKeown received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Nigel Leslie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nigel Leslie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurence McKeown, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Laurence McKeown fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nigel Leslie having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Todd Reid in the 18th minute of play forced Mini Citizens's goalkeeper Pete Green to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laurence McKeown received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Nigel Leslie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathon Bentham's late challenge caught a Mini Citizens's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonathon Bentham helped the player get up and apologised. Jonathon Bentham hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Mini Citizens's Billie Hawkins couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 27th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Norwich. Nigel Leslie didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pedro Purvis went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 35th minute, Norwich's Todd Reid dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. In the 38th minute, Laurence McKeown got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nigel Leslie stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Purvis's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Todd Reid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Pete Green tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laurence McKeown fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nigel Leslie having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 49th minute, Pedro Purvis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mini Citizens's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Purvis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nigel Leslie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Todd Reid to make the kick off. Pete Green showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Todd Reid in the 54th minute of the match. Todd Reid kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. The supporters of Mini Citizens booed when Norwich was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roy Deacon didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mini Citizens's goalkeeper Pete Green, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Todd Reid sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pete Green made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antony Arrowsmith in the 74th minute of play. Norwich's Nigel Leslie proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Norwich from getting a goal against them. Pete Green didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Todd Reid went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. In the 83rd minute Jonathon Bentham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pete Green saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 85 minutes of play, Mini Citizens's Laurence McKeown made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nigel Leslie was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 89 played minutes Norwich got a freekick which was hit by Jonathon Bentham. Pete Green showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonathon Bentham in the 94th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Laurence McKeown got free with Nigel Leslie in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
