After a defensive mix-up in Coventry UTD's zone, Gregory Castleton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Blair Widdrington came out of the goal and Gregory Castleton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Giles Culverhouse kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Champs's goalkeeper Neil Jobson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Blair Widdrington made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregory Castleton in the 30th minute of play. If Gregory Castleton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute Gregory Castleton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Blair Widdrington saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 96 minutes, Eddy Atherton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Coventry UTD and the Champs players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the referee blew the final whistle, Coventry UTD could leave the field as winners, despite Champs having more of the ball for most of the match.
