In the 9th match minute, Champs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leo Jobson to maneuver through the defense. If Jools Cook had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ray Brayson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gregory Castleton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Harleston United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Champs:s goal. Jools Cook sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Harleston United's zone, Gregory Castleton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ray Brayson came out of the goal and Gregory Castleton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jools Cook struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Ray Brayson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Champs. Ray Brayson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jools Cook in the 39th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Jools Cook kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ray Brayson. That made the score 1-0 in the 41 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gregory Castleton made a kick off. In the 53rdth minute of the game Jools Cook who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Harleston United's Ray Brayson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Champs's goalkeeper Neil Jobson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Giles Culverhouse hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Jools Cook received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Ray Brayson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 68 played minutes Harleston United got a freekick which was hit by Tom Vickers. After a defensive mix-up in Champs's zone, Jeremy Winterburn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ray Brayson came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Champs's Jools Cook. But to his dismay, Jools Cook quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Ray Brayson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregory Castleton, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Lance Lobb's late challenge caught a Champs's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lance Lobb helped the player get up and apologised. Lance Lobb hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Ray Brayson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregory Castleton in the 92nd minute of play. Jeremy Winterburn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lance Lobb got in the 95th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Neil Jobson handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar.
