Rio Birchall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gareth Stamp in the 5th minute of play. 9 minutes into the game, Perry Emberson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Rio Birchall was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rio Birchall showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lenny Huxtable, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Rio Birchall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenny Huxtable in the 14th minute of play. Gareth Stamp scored 0-2 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rio Birchall, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Calvin Draper was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 19 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Cum United's Calvin Draper got a free kick in the 19th minute. Cum United's Rio Birchall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Will Tyrell in the 24th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Cum United's goal looked a bit too open when Perry Emberson came free, but Rio Birchall reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Don Croft notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Cum United's Rio Birchall. Rio Birchall was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 43 minutes into the game, Lenny Huxtable was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Real Madrid CF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cum United the free kick. Darius Mabbutt kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lenny Huxtable in the 47th minute of play forced Cum United's goalkeeper Rio Birchall to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gareth Stamp stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Cum United's goal looked a bit too open when Gareth Stamp came free, but Rio Birchall reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rio Birchall was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Lenny Huxtable showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-5 in the 69 minute of play. If Lenny Huxtable had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Warren Crosby managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cum United's supporters rose to their feet, but Warren Crosby was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Peter Buckler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 92 minutes, Gareth Stamp managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Madrid CF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gareth Stamp was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match was over Real Madrid CF could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Cum United throughout the match.
