But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barney Maloney couldn't finish the play. 8 minutes into the match, Seb Slator had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rio Birchall. Cum United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Seb Slator was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 11 minutes, Calvin Draper mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cum United and the Tenbury Wells players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 11 played minutes Cum United got a freekick which was hit by Calvin Draper. Robbie Constantine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Warren Crosby, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 18th minute, Calvin Draper hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cum United's Rio Birchall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roy Hayward in the 22nd minute of play. Rio Birchall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roy Hayward, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Francis Hilton received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Robbie Constantine came out and tried to block the shot, but Francis Hilton slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 37th minute. Rio Birchall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miles Digby in the 41st minute of play. In the 45th match minute, Cum United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francis Hilton to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th match minute, Cum United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeremy Drysdale to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Seb Slator stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A hard shot by Nial Fitzsymon from long distance, 53 minutes into the match, got Rio Birchall's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Rio Birchall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Hayward in the 58th minute of the match. If Francis Hilton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 60 minutes, Nial Fitzsymon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tenbury Wells and the Cum United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nial Fitzsymon hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. 70 minutes into the match, Cum United's Warren Crosby sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Robbie Constantine narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Tenbury Wells's Rio Birchall threw himself towards the right post 72 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Seb Slator, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 78 minutes into the match, Cum United's Francis Hilton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Robbie Constantine narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Francis Hilton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Robbie Constantine having to make a save. Francis Hilton's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robbie Constantine read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. Warren Crosby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Roy Hayward could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Rio Birchall made a huge save. Tenbury Wells's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
