The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Robbie Constantine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Copsey in the 3rd minute of play. Darius Mabbutt lost his temper 9 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. A collision led to Cum United getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Darius Mabbutt hit a great ball. With an all-out effort, Tenbury Wells's Rio Birchall threw himself towards the right post 14 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Seb Slator, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rio Birchall made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Barney Maloney sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Tenbury Wells's Bart Darby got a free kick in the 21st minute. After 25 minutes, Francis Hilton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cum United and the Tenbury Wells players grew even worse after the yellow card. Francis Hilton kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Seb Slator blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rio Birchall having to make a save. 31 minutes into the match, Seb Slator dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Rio Birchall, 1-0. Francis Hilton kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Rio Birchall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miles Digby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the game, Calvin Draper was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cum United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tenbury Wells the free kick. Rio Birchall made an important save on a dangerous shot by Barney Maloney in the 49th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Will Kaye was the one to do the kick off. Rio Birchall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Hayward in the 57th minute of the match. In the 63rd match minute, Cum United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Calvin Draper to maneuver through the defense. When Jeremy Drysdale fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cum United's protests and gave Jeremy Drysdale a yellow card for diving instead. Rio Birchall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Hayward in the 77th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Cum United defense, Mickey Inman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rio Birchall. The Cum United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rio Birchall should have stopped the shot. Warren Crosby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robbie Constantine having to interfere. Sidney Copsey charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sidney Copsey the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Tenbury Wells booed when Cum United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Copsey didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Tenbury Wells were the better team. Tenbury Wells's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
