An unexpectedly hard shot by Ray Rawson in the 8th minute of play forced Manchester United's goalkeeper Derek Woodier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ray Rawson kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Lance Ridsdale's late challenge caught a Manchester United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lance Ridsdale helped the player get up and apologised. 28 minutes into the game, Carl Cambridge recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Derek Woodier. Carl Cambridge showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexander Jefferies during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jonny Chambers walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. 40 minutes into the game, Manchester United's Jonny Chambers nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ray Rawson was the one to do the kick off. Manchester United's Derek Woodier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jamie Beck in the 53rd minute of play. Derek Woodier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ray Rawson in the 55th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jonny Chambers got free with Freddie Driver in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Frank Dines struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Freddie Driver didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester United. Freddie Driver made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Jonny Chambers sent off a good shot on target. Freddie Driver took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sacha Stansfield, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Derek Woodier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jamie Beck, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 87th minute, Carl Cambridge ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Derek Woodier was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-3. Derek Woodier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ash Childs in the 91st minute of the match.
