After a defensive mix-up in Bedford AFC's zone, Vance Rogers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Deon Paine came out of the goal and Vance Rogers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 17 minutes, Duncan Morrison mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bedford AFC and the Manchester City players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 18 played minutes Bedford AFC got a freekick which was hit by Duncan Morrison. The audience was convinced that Richard Fleming's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Deon Paine was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. In the 22nd minute of the match, Richard Fleming got a very nice opportunity to score, but Deon Paine was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Kristian Pearch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Noel Doona tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Glenn Dransfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noel Doona having to interfere. If Eric Mann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eric Mann got free with Deon Paine in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Bedford AFC booed when Manchester City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Mann didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Deon Paine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eric Mann, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Noel Doona made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Matthew Sweeney sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Vance Rogers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Deon Paine was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Kristian Pearch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 74 minutes into the match, Eric Mann notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Bedford AFC's Deon Paine. Deon Paine was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Glenn Dransfield hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. In the 89th minute, Vance Rogers made a precise shot to the right of Deon Paine. Bedford AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Manchester City's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
