Kilburn, Westbourne Park's Stan Barber got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Will Nevin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oakalnds's Freddie Driver played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Will Nevin in the 33rd minute of play. Will Nevin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Freddie Driver tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Oakalnds's zone, Stan Barber stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Freddie Driver came out of the goal and Stan Barber tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Blair Davey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ray Rawson in the 43rd minute of play. After having played for 47 minutes, Stan Barber managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kilburn, Westbourne Park's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stan Barber was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stan Barber stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
