After a rather tough play, Dunston's Rich Bostock got a free kick in the 10th minute. Bobby Selby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrew Nottingham in the 16th minute of the match. Stephen Rashleigh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laurence Prior, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the last second Bobby Selby throw himself and got hold of the ball when Rich Bostock in the 27thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Gwyn Spann came free with the goalkeeper in the 31st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Bobby Selby could save by the left post. 35 minutes into the match, Radcliffe's goal looked a bit too open when Andrew Nottingham came free, but Bobby Selby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrew Nottingham in the 41st minute of play forced Radcliffe's goalkeeper Bobby Selby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gwyn Spann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bobby Selby having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Andrew Nottingham was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Dunston's zone, David Mahon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stephen Rashleigh came out of the goal and David Mahon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stephen Rashleigh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Mahon in the 53rd minute of the match. After 55 played minutes Dunston got a freekick which was hit by Nicholas Rooney. Stephen Rashleigh made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Laurence Prior sent off a good shot on target. In the 66th play minute Laurence Prior came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Stephen Rashleigh. 0-1. Andrew Nottingham scored 1-1 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bobby Selby, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 77 minutes, Gwyn Spann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dunston's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gwyn Spann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Laurence Prior had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Radcliffe's Bobby Selby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrew Nottingham in the 84th minute of play. In the 89th match minute, Dunston was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Russ Hoskins to maneuver through the defense. 90 minutes into the match, Dunston's goal looked a bit too open when David Mahon came free, but Stephen Rashleigh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicholas Rooney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
