Brad Hurst made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ted Duckworth in the 12th minute. If Rufus Perkins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the match, Ted Duckworth had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Brad Hurst. Wanborough's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ted Duckworth was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. When Marek Elding fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Shirley Village's protests and gave Marek Elding a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th minute, Marek Elding hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alex Styles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Niall Fuller went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Brad Hurst took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jason Brooke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ted Duckworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Brad Hurst tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Ted Duckworth got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wanborough's Brad Hurst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jason Brooke in the 41st minute of play. Niall Fuller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alex Styles having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Shirley Village's Jason Brooke sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Brad Hurst narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marek Elding sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Niall Fuller made a kick off. After 53 played minutes Shirley Village got a freekick which was hit by Toby Platt. A hard shot by Conal Denham from long distance, 55 minutes into the match, got Alex Styles's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 56th minute, Ted Duckworth left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Shirley Village fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Ted Duckworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brad Hurst having to interfere. A collision led to Wanborough getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Rufus Perkins hit a great ball. Spike Sedgemore was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 72 minutes into the match. Brad Hurst had in the 74thth minute some difficulties stopping Rex Ainge's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Brad Hurst didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rex Ainge went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Rufus Perkins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wanborough's supporters rose to their feet, but Rufus Perkins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alex Styles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
