Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jim Fitzgerald in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zaq Worth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jim Fitzgerald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Shawn McAleer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wokingham City's supporters rose to their feet, but Shawn McAleer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zaq Worth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Southport AFC's goalkeeper Zaq Worth, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Wokingham City getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Eddie Peacock hit a great ball. Miles Wilkes got in the 21st a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Jerry Wilmott handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. If Jim Fitzgerald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zaq Worth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jim Fitzgerald in the 38th minute of play. Jim Fitzgerald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Zaq Worth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jim Fitzgerald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zaq Worth having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, Southport AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jim Fitzgerald came free, but Zaq Worth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th match minute, Wokingham City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronny Clayton to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Miles Wilkes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Wokingham City's Eddie Peacock got a free kick in the 51st minute. After 53 played minutes Wokingham City got a freekick which was hit by Ronny Clayton. If Jim Fitzgerald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Southport AFC's Eddie Renwick got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 66th minute, Shawn McAleer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Miles Wilkes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Jerry Wilmott tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 75 minutes, Jim Fitzgerald managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wokingham City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jim Fitzgerald was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 83rd minute Jim Fitzgerald shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zaq Worth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trey England, 89 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Shawn McAleer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Zaq Worth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 97th minute, Trey England sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Southport AFC's Zaq Worth didn't even have to move. Wokingham City were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
