With a little luck, Shirley Village's Alex Styles got control of the ball when Richie Brooks tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 47th minute, Richie Brooks reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alex Styles. The goal made the score 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jason Brooke to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Shirley Village's zone, Richie Brooks stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alex Styles came out of the goal and Richie Brooks tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 58thth minute of the game Richie Brooks who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Shirley Village's Alex Styles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 59 minutes, Lennie Shakespeare managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AlcoTeam St Neots FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Richie Brooks was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alex Styles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Shirley Village booed when AlcoTeam St Neots FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rod Izzard didn't get a good kick on the ball.
