When Jim Fitzgerald came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Wokingham City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jim Fitzgerald couldn't finish the play. Niall Fuller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jerry Wilmott having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Wokingham City's goal looked a bit too open when Niall Fuller came free, but Jerry Wilmott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rufus Perkins succeeded in the game's 26th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Brad Hurst showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Shawn McAleer in the 30th minute of the match. In the 35th minute of the match Alfred Brown shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Brad Hurst showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Brad Hurst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Shawn McAleer in the 43rd minute of play. Shawn McAleer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brad Hurst having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Jim Fitzgerald made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, Wokingham City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eddie Peacock to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Jim Fitzgerald's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brad Hurst was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. 59 minutes into the match, Wanborough's goalkeeper Brad Hurst had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Shawn McAleer. Jerry Wilmott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niall Fuller in the 60th minute of the match. Wokingham City's Shawn McAleer got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jim Fitzgerald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Brad Hurst tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Shawn McAleer who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 69thth minute tested the skills of Brad Hurst when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some careless play in the Wanborough defense, Shawn McAleer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Brad Hurst. The Wanborough fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brad Hurst should have stopped the shot. 76 minutes into the match, Jim Fitzgerald dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Brad Hurst, 1-3. In the 82nd minute of the match Oscar Patton sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Brad Hurst skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jim Fitzgerald in the 84th minute of play forced Wanborough's goalkeeper Brad Hurst to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Wokingham City booed when Wanborough was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ashley Woods didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 87th minute Jim Fitzgerald shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brad Hurst saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 90 played minutes Wanborough got a freekick which was hit by David Dowrick. Jerry Wilmott made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rufus Perkins in the 96th minute of play.
