Spectators: 6728 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 0) Ted Duckworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brad Hurst having to interfere. Rufus Perkins could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Alex Styles made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niall Fuller in the 10th minute of play forced Shirley Village's goalkeeper Alex Styles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alex Styles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niall Fuller in the 11th minute of play. Jason Brooke recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ted Duckworth in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brad Hurst prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alex Styles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niall Fuller, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Jason Brooke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Shirley Village's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Niall Fuller 26 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Brad Hurst showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jason Brooke, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. A collision led to Wanborough getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. David Dowrick hit a great ball. Toby Rusk took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 33rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Brad Hurst. Wanborough's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ted Duckworth in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Brad Hurst saved Wanborough from getting behind. A collision led to Wanborough getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Spike Sedgemore hit a great ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jason Brooke to make the kick off. Wanborough's Brad Hurst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jason Brooke in the 55th minute of play. If Luke English had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 70th minute, Ted Duckworth ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Brad Hurst was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rufus Perkins in the 73rd minute of play forced Shirley Village's goalkeeper Alex Styles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 74 minutes, Luke English mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Shirley Village and the Wanborough players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 74 played minutes Shirley Village got a freekick which was hit by Luke English. In the 76thth minute of the game Niall Fuller who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Shirley Village's Alex Styles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 78 played minutes, Wanborough's Lennie Baker shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alex Styles came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wanborough reached it. After having played for 80 minutes, Jason Brooke managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Shirley Village's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jason Brooke was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ted Duckworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jason Brooke in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brad Hurst prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Shirley Village defense, Niall Fuller kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alex Styles. The Shirley Village fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alex Styles should have stopped the shot. Rufus Perkins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In a very dangerous position, a player in Shirley Village fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 93rd minute. Penalty! Jason Brooke was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 98th minute. Shirley Village's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Shirley Village players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Wanborough.
