Jerry Owen succeeded in the game's 14th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. Buster Jump showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zack Littlechild, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The Exeter fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when Exeter's Jerry Owen looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 42 minutes, Stan Darko mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Exeter and the Manchester United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Manchester United booed when Exeter was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rueben Postolan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 87thth minute of the game Zack Littlechild who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Exeter's Buster Jump was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jamie Clemence sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jamie Clemence got free with Liam Sutton in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Exeter eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
