An unexpectedly hard shot by Austen Ferdinand in the 8th minute of play forced Coppull's goalkeeper Derek Dobbs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the game, Mighty Minstermen - Leeds's Austen Ferdinand nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Derek Dobbs made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 20th minute Duncan Barron shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stevie Gaskell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 26th minute by Laurence Featherstone got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. With his leg Stevie Gaskell managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when Coppull's Duncan Barron fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 32 played minutes Coppull got a freekick which was hit by John Newlyn. In the 37thth minute of the game Darius Barnett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Coppull's Derek Dobbs was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Geoff Dines's late challenge caught a Coppull's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Geoff Dines helped the player get up and apologised. In the 39th match minute, Mighty Minstermen - Leeds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geoff Dines to maneuver through the defense. Stevie Gaskell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Duncan Barron's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. When Geoff Dines was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 41 minutes had been played. After the first half Mighty Minstermen - Leeds were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Duncan Barron made a kick off. Derek Dobbs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Glen Cross in the 57th minute of the match. In the 59th minute Chesney Craven shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stevie Gaskell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stevie Gaskell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duncan Barron in the 61st minute of play. Duncan Barron fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stevie Gaskell having to interfere. When Coppull's Laurence Featherstone in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Mighty Minstermen - Leeds's Stevie Gaskell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duncan Barron in the 79th minute of play. Laurence Featherstone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When John Newlyn fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Coppull's protests and gave John Newlyn a yellow card for diving instead. Darius Barnett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Derek Dobbs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Duncan Barron had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Laurence Featherstone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Coppull were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
