Darius Duffield hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. When Steven Fordham came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Salmon FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steven Fordham couldn't finish the play. Stan Hind received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Stevie Gaskell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mighty Minstermen - Leeds's Stevie Gaskell proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Mighty Minstermen - Leeds from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Salmon FC booed when Mighty Minstermen - Leeds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Allan Whittingham didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Steven Fordham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stan Hind received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Stevie Gaskell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute Darius Barnett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ashley Morris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mighty Minstermen - Leeds's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Salmon FC the free kick. 30 minutes into the match, Salmon FC's Steven Fordham sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stevie Gaskell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 31st minute, Glen Cross hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stan Hind in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stevie Gaskell prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ashley Morris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Austen Ferdinand in the 36th minute of play. Stan Hind fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stevie Gaskell having to interfere. After 39 played minutes Mighty Minstermen - Leeds got a freekick which was hit by Glen Cross. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stan Hind in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stevie Gaskell saved Mighty Minstermen - Leeds from getting behind. Darius Barnett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ashley Morris having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Stan Hind to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stan Hind in the 53rd minute of play forced Mighty Minstermen - Leeds's goalkeeper Stevie Gaskell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 0-1 became the score in the 55th minute when Austen Ferdinand elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Stevie Gaskell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stan Hind, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Allan Whittingham was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 64th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Salmon FC's Steven Fordham got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mighty Minstermen - Leeds's Stevie Gaskell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stan Hind in the 67th minute of play. Stevie Gaskell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Steven Fordham's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. In the 70th minute, Stan Hind hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stevie Gaskell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martyn Bell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Austen Ferdinand managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mighty Minstermen - Leeds's supporters rose to their feet, but Austen Ferdinand was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ashley Morris breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Darius Barnett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Ashley Morris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stan Hind's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stevie Gaskell read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Steven Fordham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Salmon FC's zone, Austen Ferdinand stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ashley Morris came out of the goal and Austen Ferdinand tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Mighty Minstermen - Leeds had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
