The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 6 minutes into the match, Denzil Ottaway notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of New Marske's Peter Dixon. Peter Dixon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Sol Mills fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Amberley mothballed's protests and gave Sol Mills a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of New Marske booed when Amberley mothballed was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sol Mills didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as New Marske's Nick Coyle slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Robert Garnett. That made the score 1-1 after 10 minutes of play. After 14 played minutes Amberley mothballed got a freekick which was hit by Paddy Bull. In the 20th match minute, New Marske was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lennie Everard to maneuver through the defense. Denzil Ottaway fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter Dixon having to interfere. After having played for 25 minutes, Piers Deaconsfield managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New Marske's supporters crossed their fingers, but Piers Deaconsfield was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Piers Deaconsfield who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Robert Garnett when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Denzil Ottaway had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th play minute Piers Deaconsfield came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Robert Garnett. 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Denzil Ottaway to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in New Marske's zone, Sol Mills stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Peter Dixon came out of the goal and Sol Mills tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Piers Deaconsfield blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Robert Garnett having to make a save. Piers Deaconsfield's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robert Garnett read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Denzil Ottaway received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Peter Dixon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nath Dunn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Piers Deaconsfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robert Garnett having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Piers Deaconsfield managed to get in a good position for a shot. New Marske's supporters rose to their feet, but Piers Deaconsfield was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robert Garnett breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Robert Garnett stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Piers Deaconsfield's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. The Amberley mothballed players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented New Marske from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
