If Kyle Groom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Len Emmerson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kyle Groom in the 9th minute of play. Len Emmerson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kyle Groom in the 12th minute of the match. In the 13th minute, one of East Grinstead City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for East Grinstead City. Len Emmerson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kyle Groom, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Kyle Groom managed to get in a good position for a shot. Knottingley's supporters rose to their feet, but Kyle Groom was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Len Emmerson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kyle Groom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Len Emmerson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to East Grinstead City getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Benji Ginn hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Benji Ginn made the kick off in the second half. Kyle Groom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kyle Groom in the 57th minute of play forced East Grinstead City's goalkeeper Len Emmerson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute, Johnathon Bramble got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 68 minutes into the match, East Grinstead City's goalkeeper Len Emmerson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tris Bullard. Tris Bullard might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Len Emmerson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tris Bullard's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 84thth minute, Len Emmerson skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a defensive mix-up in East Grinstead City's zone, Tris Bullard stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Len Emmerson came out of the goal and Tris Bullard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Knottingley's Kyle Groom in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye East Grinstead City's goalie prevented a goal. Kyle Groom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Knottingley played a much better game than East Grinstead City and deserved their victory. The East Grinstead City players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
