Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Guy Vaughn charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guy Vaughn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Kyle Groom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 8th minute Kyle Groom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Clist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oscar Clist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kyle Groom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 12 played minutes Barmby on the Marsh got a freekick which was hit by Chaz Goodwick. Knottingley's Rupert Sheldon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chip Gilchrist in the 20th minute of play. Tris Bullard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Rupert Sheldon managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when Barmby on the Marsh's Miles Le Tissier fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Chip Gilchrist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Chip Gilchrist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37th minute, Knottingley's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Miles Le Tissier fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 39 minutes into the match, Knottingley's goal looked a bit too open when Chip Gilchrist came free, but Rupert Sheldon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rupert Sheldon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chip Gilchrist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Miles Le Tissier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Rupert Sheldon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kyle Groom to strike the kick off in the second half. Barmby on the Marsh's Oscar Clist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kyle Groom in the 55th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Chip Gilchrist had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rupert Sheldon. Knottingley's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Chip Gilchrist was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. When Barmby on the Marsh's Chip Gilchrist in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Knottingley's goalie prevented a goal. Tim Cotton lost his temper 74 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 74 minutes into the game, one of Knottingley:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When Chip Gilchrist came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Barmby on the Marsh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chip Gilchrist couldn't finish the play. In the 91st match minute, Barmby on the Marsh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guy Vaughn to maneuver through the defense. Barmby on the Marsh's Miles Le Tissier got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Barmby on the Marsh had played much better football throughout.
