Chester-le-Street City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastien Thompson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andrew Couch in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ruben Rowett saved Chester-le-Street City from getting behind. In the 51st minute, Trabzonspor's Reggie Darnbrooke dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. Blair Bayliff's late challenge caught a Chester-le-Street City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Blair Bayliff helped the player get up and apologised. Louie Delamore's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ruben Rowett read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Ruben Rowett came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Trabzonspor's Louie Delamore. But to his dismay, Louie Delamore quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-6. In the 95th minute, Dion Barber ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Phil Barratt was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-6. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Trabzonspor walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
