Ritchie Woolcock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Calum Clayton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Lemon getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Phillip Hammond hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Calum Clayton sped through Lemon's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tom Bridge. Alfie Rice showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacob Colman in the 9th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Felix Hazledine sped through Southport AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alfie Rice. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Hazledine in the 14th minute of play forced Southport AFC's goalkeeper Alfie Rice to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ritchie Woolcock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacob Colman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 19 played minutes, Lemon's Michael Avery shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alfie Rice came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lemon reached it. If Calum Clayton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jamie Higgins kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. 28 minutes into the match, Lemon's goalkeeper Tom Bridge had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ritchie Woolcock. When Alfred Gomersall fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lemon's protests and gave Alfred Gomersall a yellow card for diving instead. Calum Clayton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Southport AFC booed when Lemon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Avery didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tom Bridge made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ritchie Woolcock in the 39th minute. In the 40th minute, Felix Hazledine left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lemon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Felix Hazledine's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alfie Rice read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. Jacob Colman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Alfie Rice tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Hazledine in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alfie Rice saved Southport AFC from getting behind.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Calum Clayton made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calum Clayton in the 51st minute of play forced Lemon's goalkeeper Tom Bridge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Lemon's Russ Wilkins got a free kick in the 52nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calum Clayton in the 53rd minute of play forced Lemon's goalkeeper Tom Bridge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Lemon getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Alfred Gomersall hit a great ball. During the 56th minute of the match Alfred Gomersall completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Alfred Gomersall a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 57th match minute, Lemon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfred Gomersall to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Lemon getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Michael Avery hit a great ball. Robert Frampton, 70 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Ritchie Woolcock managed to get in a good position for a shot. Southport AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ritchie Woolcock was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tom Bridge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Phillip Hammond's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Alfie Rice firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Southport AFC's zone, Phillip Hammond stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfie Rice came out of the goal and Phillip Hammond tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jacob Colman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfie Rice having to interfere. Todd Bowler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Tom Bridge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 91st minute of the match Robert Frampton sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tom Bridge skillfully saved the ball. Jacob Colman struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Alfie Rice didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lemon. Lemon's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
