Ruben Rowett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Weedon in the 5th minute of the match. Chester-le-Street City's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ivan Weedon 7 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. When Ivan Weedon came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Whitechapel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivan Weedon couldn't finish the play. Theo Brown charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Theo Brown the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Whitechapel booed when Chester-le-Street City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Theo Brown didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ruben Rowett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Weedon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sebastien Thompson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Michael Ramsden having to make a save. In the 29th minute Dion Barber shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Ramsden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Whitechapel's Michael Ramsden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dion Barber in the 33rd minute of play. Ruben Rowett stood somewhat misplaced when Gez Stockdale came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 45 minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sebastien Thompson to strike the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Dion Barber notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Whitechapel's Michael Ramsden. Michael Ramsden was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Michael Ramsden made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Dion Barber sent off a good shot on target. Whitechapel's Michael Ramsden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reg Welsh in the 63rd minute of play. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chester-le-Street City's goalkeeper Ruben Rowett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Whitechapel's Michael Ramsden proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Whitechapel from getting a goal against them. Junior Davenport hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Chester-le-Street City's zone, Junior Davenport stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruben Rowett came out of the goal and Junior Davenport tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Chester-le-Street City's Ruben Rowett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Weedon in the 95th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Whitechapel had played much better football throughout.
