Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Alf Fletcher took the kick off in the first half of the match. The supporters of Brompton FC booed when Wallsend was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kieran Hutchins didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Alf Fletcher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Blair Denham during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Andrew Hicks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Steven Tubbs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 16th minute, Andrew Hicks got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Denny Mallaby recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Steven Tubbs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain Layfield having to interfere. Brandon Patterson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alf Fletcher, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. If Alf Fletcher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iain Layfield didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Steven Tubbs went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Shane Creighton charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Shane Creighton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 42nd match minute, Wallsend was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Shane Creighton to maneuver through the defense. Alf Fletcher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Brandon Patterson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wallsend's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Alf Fletcher 48 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Steven Tubbs made a kick off. If Vinnie Blythe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alf Fletcher in the 58th minute of play forced Wallsend's goalkeeper Brandon Patterson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vinnie Blythe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Alf Fletcher's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brandon Patterson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Iain Layfield was a little too slow when Steven Tubbs got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 68th minute. The score was now 1-2. Iain Layfield showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steven Tubbs in the 72nd minute of the match. Wallsend's Andrew Hicks got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wallsend's Steven Tubbs got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alf Fletcher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Brandon Patterson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vinnie Blythe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brandon Patterson having to interfere. In the 91st minute, Alf Fletcher left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Brompton FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. If Alf Fletcher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
