Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) In the 4th minute, Vinnie Bell sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Redruth's Ivan Lovett didn't even have to move. In the 5th minute, Eddie Butterworth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bob Sills charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bob Sills the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Norman Everard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sittingbourne's supporters rose to their feet, but Norman Everard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivan Lovett breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ross Bagshaw in the 18th minute of play forced Sittingbourne's goalkeeper Frank Bettney to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Norman Everard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norman Everard struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Ivan Lovett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sittingbourne. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Norman Everard in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ivan Lovett saved Redruth from getting behind. In the 28th minute Ian Fordham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Lovett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ivan Lovett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norman Everard in the 31st minute of play. Bob Sills recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Redruth's Ross Bagshaw in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sittingbourne's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ross Bagshaw in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Frank Bettney prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Bob Sills had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Bob Sills came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Redruth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bob Sills couldn't finish the play. Sittingbourne's Norman Everard got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
The wind increased when Norman Everard made the kick off in the second half. Ian Fordham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Lovett having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ross Bagshaw in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Frank Bettney saved Sittingbourne from getting behind. Bob Sills struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Frank Bettney didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Redruth. Ian Fordham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Ivan Lovett made a huge save. In the 68th minute Norman Everard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Lovett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Sittingbourne's Norman Everard in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Redruth's goalie prevented a goal. 74 minutes into the game, Vic Brooks was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sittingbourne's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Redruth the free kick. After 75 played minutes Sittingbourne got a freekick which was hit by Vic Brooks. Redruth's Ross Bagshaw got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 78th match minute, Sittingbourne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Shane Barnfield to maneuver through the defense. Frank Bettney made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bob Sills in the 80th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Redruth's Ross Bagshaw got a free kick in the 81st minute. After having played for 83 minutes, Ross Bagshaw managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Redruth's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ross Bagshaw was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Redruth's Ross Bagshaw got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frank Bettney showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bob Sills in the 94th minute of the match. Frank Bettney made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ross Bagshaw in the 95th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sittingbourne players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Redruth.
