Bob Sills received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Russell Robinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th minute, Piers Ingham made a precise shot to the right of Russell Robinson. Kenton's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Bob Sills might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Russell Robinson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bob Sills ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 18th minute, Bob Sills got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 20th minute, Bob Sills made a precise shot to the right of Russell Robinson. Kenton's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Kenton's zone, Bob Sills stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Russell Robinson came out of the goal and Bob Sills tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With his leg Ivan Lovett managed to avoid a goal in the 27thth minute, when Kenton's Tony Crossley fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 29 minutes into the game, Mick Sheppard recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ivan Lovett. Mick Sheppard showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Tony Crossley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Russell Robinson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ross Bagshaw, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The supporters of Redruth booed when Kenton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rufus Rush didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carl Brearley kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Harry Milner got free with Ivan Lovett in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bob Sills in the 45th minute of play forced Kenton's goalkeeper Russell Robinson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Redruth's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Tony Crossley 46 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-2. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Ross Bagshaw made the kick off in the second half. Russell Robinson came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Redruth's Bob Sills. But to his dismay, Bob Sills quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. If Bob Sills had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Ross Bagshaw had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Kenton getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Harry Milner hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bob Sills got free with Russell Robinson in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 75 played minutes Kenton got a freekick which was hit by Harry Milner. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ross Bagshaw in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Russell Robinson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Bob Sills had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Russell Robinson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ross Bagshaw in the 81st minute of the match. Bob Sills fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Russell Robinson having to interfere. Bob Sills sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Kenton getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Rufus Rush hit a great ball. Redruth's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
